VT Navigator Window

1. The VT Navigator Window is the main hub of VT Trader.

It allows quick access to the contents and tools located in the Main Menu panel, Trading and Options bookmarks in the middle, and various toolbars on the right.

We will not discuss all the parts and menus found within the Navigator window, but try and cover the most important parts. To learn about the intricacies of the Navigator window, please visit our Online Manual.  

Note: When you minimize the VT Navigator Window to your desktop, it will minimize all VT Trader windows and work in the background.

If the VT Navigator Window is closed, VT Trader will disconnect from the server and VT Trader will close.


2. Opening your Trading Windows

From the Trading Bookmark, you can open any of the Trading Windows, by clicking on the "+" next to Trading Windows, then picking your selection from the expanded tree.

  • Dealing Rates - See live bid and ask quotes of currency pairs and make trades. 
  • Account(s) Information - Check your account(s) balance, equity, used and usable margin, interest gained or lost, and net P/L.
  • Open Positions - Monitor your opens positions using this window.
  • Closed Positions - See your past positions by picking a time period.
  • Pending Orders -  Shows your entry orders and any pending orders.
  • Summary By Accounts - Advanced way to moniter multiple accounts.
  • Activity Log - Collects a history log of any activites with VT Trader.
  • Reports - Generate detailed reports of your trading activity for any period.
  • Reuters News - Financial news from a trusted source.
  • News Window - Another news source.

3. Opening a New Chart
From File Menu

You can quickly open a new chart using the File Menu. Simply select "Open a New Chart" and then pick your currency pair. 

This route opens a new chart window that is set to show a 30 minute interval candlestick chart.

From Trading Tab - Charts

After selecting Charts, pick a currency pair, time frame, and chart type for the chart you would like to open.

This way lets you dictate in more detail what kind of chart you are trying to open.

Using the second route, we have easily opened a new GBP/USD, 10 min, candlestick chart.

4. Chart Layers Allow You to Customization your Charts.

Chart Layers - These options let you change the visibility properties of almost any elements on a Forex Chart.

This includes trendlines, comments, symbols, fibonacci tools, price channels, open positions, pending orders, etc..

You can choose to adjust the transparency to any level, or use the checkbox to toggle whether these objects and lines are visible or not.

5. Add Technical Indicators and Trading Systems.

Indicators - Selecting from this indicators list, you are choosing to add this technical analysis indicator to your current chart. You will be prompted to enter parameters, but you can always choose the defaults.

Trading Systems - Automated trading systems allow an experienced trader to set up automated buy and sell orders based on technical signals.

There are also choices to select Custom Indicators and Trading Systems which only applies to indicators and custom trading systems that you have imported into VT Trader.
